Thank you Germany
The Teutonic Funk Experience was some experience indeed! We kicked off our tour in Berlin, spinning music at Shoe’s opening exhibit. There was funk, some dancing, a lot of beer and of course Shoe’s amazing art work. So massive props to Akim Walta (From Here to Fame) for taking care of us so well.
The Teutonic Funk Experience
We’ll be playing in three different German towns in the second weekend of March! To begin, we’ll open our little tour with Shoe’s book exhibit opening, then we’re off to Leipzig to spin at the 3rd Leipziger Newcomer Breakdance battle, and we’ll close off the weekend with another Shoe Exhibit jam at the Arty Farty Gallery in Cologne. Wanna follow us around? Check out our Calendar for dates and more info.

R.I.P Jerry van Rooyen
Yesterday, Dutch composer and musician Jerry Van Rooyen died at age 80. His work has always been an important contributor in Die Schallplattenpolizei’s Dutch funk mixes, and we wish to extend our sincere condolances to the Van Rooyen family. Jerry will be missed, and may his music find its way to many ears both young and old for generations to come.
Maximum B-Boy II: 30.000
According to our site statistics, Maximum B-Boy II has been downloaded a friggin’ 30.000 times! The ultimate soundtrack to all out war and destruction, Maximum B-Boy II is just the right tool for any tactical battle configuration. Wicked warlords and terrible generals worldwide agree on this. But yeah anyway, this makes Maximum B-Boy II the hottest mix amongst our listeners. We appreciate the ongoing support, and the notion that so many people have listened to our output is just mind blowing in itself.
Wir Sind on die Radio
On the 12th and 19th of September, Die Schallplattenpolizei is going to get some radio play!
The “45 RPM” Radio Show on the Bulgarian station Radio Varna, will be playing a selection of our mixes to anyone listening in Varna! Tune in every Saturday between 20:00 and 23:00 EET with funk DJ Dobromir Todorov and guests.
You can also listen live at www.radiovarna.com (site is in Bulgarian, so click here for the live stream).
Make some noise!
Since we’ve been sharing forgotten music with anyone willing to listen, friends and acquaintances have been giving us props, but we are particularly interested in what YOU have to say. Yes, you out there in Vancouver, Dortmund, Paris, Shanghai, Texel, Mayrhofen, Tokyo, Cambridge, and anywhere else in the world wide web of funk. So, the floodgates are open, you’re welcome to post comments on our mixes, posts and articles both new and old. Just click that little text balloon above each post and comment to your heart’s content.
Download Music page updated
Hey funk freaks, we’ve updated our overview page a bit. Since we’re cranking out mixes like a meat grinder making… well, meat, we figured the overview page (taken from the old defunct web site) needed some design love. Don’t worry though, because just like before, you will always be two clicks away from musical heaven.
