Every so often you music lovers post comments on our mixes (and we can’t encourage that enough of course), but sometimes people send us a mail with props. These guys from Madrid are apparently rocking out on our mixes in the park:

Bulgaria’s premier celebration of music, battling and everything hip hop is coming to Sofia, in its 11th incarnation. As a “young people’s festival”, Jam On It is all about love, friendship and happiness. Frank the Tank will be there for the second time, dropping some heavy funk bombs out there. He’ll also participate in panel discussions and generally battle anyone. Check out the Jam On It Facebook group and official website for more information.

On August 26th, Frank the Tank will be spinning live at Melissa Scholten’s Alter Ego opening exhibition, check it out:

I’ve always wondered who the people are behind the artwork on the streets. Not that it really matters but I can’t help myself from asking who takes the time to climb over fences to climb onto trains, trams, subways, rooftops or any other high profile spots.

Melissa Scholten has portrayed 120 of these people for her book and exhibition called ‘Alter Ego’ and they feature some high profile artists. All of them are legendary in the Dutch graffit scene. Some quit a long time ago to persue different careers, some of them made their job out of their hobbies and still jump fences on a weekly basis.

August the 26th Melissa will open her Exhibition in the Trouw in Amsterdam.

On the air at Mesh Radio Singapore

We’ll be on the air at Singapore’s Mesh Radio, Sunday August 15th, from 10:00 to 14:00 on their Sunday Live show! Wondering what Mesh Radio is all about? Here’s an excerpt from their web site:

Yes yes, hope you’re enjoying our latest summer mix Maximum Summer… But now, here’s a message from Die Schallplattenpolizei Department of Live Giggin’: we will be visiting Cafe De Duivel in Amsterdam three times this month, and tomorrow is our first gig of the month! For those not in the know, De Duivel is Amsterdam’s premier hot spot for beer, hip hop and straight up FUNK. We’ll be there to throw down some vinyl on the decks and to make sure asses are shaken with dancing diligence and furious fanaticism! The Teutonic Funk Experience was some experience indeed! We kicked off our tour in Berlin, spinning music at Shoe’s opening exhibit. There was funk, some dancing, a lot of beer and of course Shoe’s amazing art work. So massive props to Akim Walta (From Here to Fame) for taking care of us so well.

The next day we were in Leipzig to spin at the Street Level b-boy battle, where we were welcomed by DJ’s Da Wiesel & Frequento (Sunset Soul Recordings). You guys, thanks for letting us spin at the finals, for the free (and hot!) promo records and for letting us rock the party in nightclub Horns Erben! We felt humbled and honoured.

On day 3 we were on the road again to DJ at Shoe’s second exhibition at the Arty Farty Gallery in Cologne. Thanks Mr Gallery Owner (forgot your name) and thanks to Shoe for his signed books. Last but not least, a big shout out to Yamina (Soul Warriors), who put up with our nonsense all weekend and battled anybody on the dance floor.

Germany, we’ll be back.

We’ll be playing in three different German towns in the second weekend of March! To begin, we’ll open our little tour with Shoe’s book exhibit opening, then we’re off to Leipzig to spin at the 3rd Leipziger Newcomer Breakdance battle, and we’ll close off the weekend with another Shoe Exhibit jam at the Arty Farty Gallery in Cologne.
