High CBS, a name that’s synonymous with bombing and style in the heydays of Amsterdam’s graffiti scene, passed away on the 17th of August. We extend our condoleances to everyone who knew him, and we made the video below to honour his legendary contribution to graffiti.

Over in Bulgaria (nezdrave!) we got featured once again on the legendary Balkan funk show “The 45 RPM Radio Show“. DJ’s Ilko and Lazy Face were featured, and our very own Eigen Funk Eerst 3 got played to close the show. This Mokum-Bulgaria funk connection was made possible thanks to Soulmate.

We brought everything but the kitchen sink into this mix, cutting up nothing but original vinyl to create an hour of funky rhythms for you to get down to. We don’t use MP3′s only to pretend we got some serious vinyl! Rest In Peace: Stan Lokhin

This morning Surinam arranger/composer Stan Lokhin passed away at age 63. Billy Jones, Oscar Harris and his Twinkle Stars, Lieve Hugo (the King of Kaseko) and the Happy Boys are among the list of musical giants he brought to the ears of countless fans. Most of these artists’ tracks in our Eigen Funk Eerst series of mixes are produced by the late, great Stan Lohkin. Recently suffering from terminal illness, he lived as a humble but proud man, and in September he was finally awarded one of the highest badges of honor in his home country. May he rest in piece.
