where did you guys get a hold of such obscure Balkanton vynil? I absolutely love the bang bang track and never knew it had a Bulgarian version…Could you give me the details of the release it came from – I really would love to be able to find it and buy it as a present for my partner, as we have an inside joke with the bang bang song. Greetings from spring-green Sofia!

Anna
8 April 2010

continued: I just found out Lili Ivanova performed a version of the bang bang song in Bulgarian, but the one in your mix is not her version, even the text is different (yet both carry somewhat the original meaning of the English lyrics)…so, I am really curious to know who sang it.

Радо

Вие демоснтрирате изкуствен имтелект ли като всички пишете на аглийски. Я се стегнете момчете и момичете, че като заплющат едни български щамари дълго ще ви пищят ушите.

Hey Anna, “Bang Bang” is from Mapraputa Paguhcka.
Balkanton BTM 6079. Don’t ask me about the details, this track is pretty obscure so good luck finding it. :)

Most records we used for our Bulgarian Mix were traded with Bulgarian DJ’s Skill and Nyzmo.

Радо: I can’t understand what you’re saying but I hope it’s all good. Peace out. :)

hello, great mix comrades!!! I have just one Q: how did you cut the samples from the film Time to Part/Vreme Razdelno/ – do you know bulgarian or someone helped, because the phrases are so in the right places! Congrats again for the marvelous mix!!!

Felibeto: thanks, it’s the only reason why we make mixes (besides for our own creative fullfilment).

psycho_d: we had a lot of help from SoulTrotter, one of the Netherlands’ funkiest b-boys who also happens to be film director, actor and part Bulgarian. Check out his blog for more info: http://www.soultrotter.com/

Thank you all, it’s fantastic to see so many positive reactions!

Psycho D and all the others,

I saw the film Time to Part several times and although I don’t understand one word of it (except nazdrave!) this film gives me the chills. I can feel what is going on at the marriagescene when the 100 bagpipers appear. No words need to be said.
This film goes deeeeeeeep!

We had 3 goals in mind when we started to mix this one:
First it was our intension to make a strict Bulgarian mix that touches all our Bulgarians friends deep in their heart.
Also our goal was/is to make the young Bulgarian generation aware of their own cultural history that despite of the hard hand of the communist goverment created some incredible beautiful songs.
Our last goal was/is to let the whole world know about Bulgarian’s rich history.

We share forgotten music…
All these comments above make us feel real warm inside!
Thanks to all of you.

Nezdrave!!!!

I didn’t heared such a thing since the Estradashpere’s 1st album and song “Dance of Tosho and Slavi”. However you made a great job! Very nice mix! It’s remain to be strange, why good bulgarian music (remixes and interpretation) came from abroad (some exeptions of course).

I’be very greatfull if somebody can say, what is the track on minute 33. I’ve already lost a 2 days looking for. Thanks in advance.

Dear ddtlast,

On 33 minutes I think it’s Yordanka and her last name in cyrillic: ‘xphctoba’ (Hope it’s correct)
It’s a 45 on Balkanton (ofcourse) and the nr. is: BTK 3242.
Hope you can get some rest after 2 days of doubt….

18 May 2010

Hi BR,

It says something like: npbcteH ha pbkata
And I’m pretty sure it’s from before 1073 because someone wrote that year on the label.
Hope you can make something out of it.
By the way, it’s one of the few balkanton records I have with a picture sleeve.
Purple/green and two photo’s.

GREAT MIX , FRANK !

Simply amazing. Noting more, nothing less … just amazing! Congrats, guys! It’s really a shame why bulgarian producers try to copy from the others, instead just to look into their own backyard, what treasure they do have – the magic of Bulgarian voices! Thanx again for creating this mix!
